Caption: | Stairwell of the Boros Bunker. It was a Nazi civilian bomb shelter built in 1941 by forced laborers. After WWII it was a Red Army prison, then an East German textile warehouse, then a Cuban banana storehouse, then a techno and fetish club, then an erotic trade fair grounds and the starting point of Berlin's annual Fuckparade. Yes, I said Fuckparade. Now it is legally zoned as the 5-story basement to the 1-story modernist home that entrepreneur and art collector Christian Boros has built on top of it. His vast collection is exhibited in it and can be viewed by appointment. The walls of the building are steel-reinforced concrete, two meters thick. |
