The New Website
As you may have noticed, we officially have a new website. Andy and designer Morgan Knutson made it for us and we hope you like it. It’s brand spankin’ new and we’re real excited about the possibilities, but just know that there might be some kinks as we get it up and running. Please take it for a spin and let us know what works and what doesn’t, so that we can make it divine and perfect for you in every conceivable way.
This is awesome! I really dig that the website is more interactive now. I’ve always really dug Franz Ferdinand’s website for that reason.
I think structurally this is a really solid website—you might want to talk to your designer about the background image though, the main text is a bit hard to read because there are so many colors in the background–if you made the background on the main blog more opaque then it would be a lot easier to read.
But hey, I’m letting you know because I want to be able to read about what you all are up to—- thanks for the great show you put on in Champaign a few months back! Can’t wait to go again!
I would love to see you guys post past shows and make them just as interactive as the future ones. We could post our photos and whatnot from old shows too, make you a really nice gallery.
Ditto on the text being hard to read. And also on an opaque background for the text.
Cool music video as a marching band too.
I agree with the above comments. As a professional web developer/designer, my first thought was, ironically, “WTF?” when I saw the background the text was against. While I love the album cover, and the idea behind it (read the cd booklet last night!), it really doesn’t work very well for text on a website.
Also, it looks like in IE 7 your drop down menus are appearing too far to the right. When i hover over “media,” the drop down appears beneath “community.”
Loved the new videos, and the ability to use Facebook connect to login to comment!
PS. Maybe just put a semi-opaque white background behind the main text area to make it easier to read? Just an idea.
Scratch that. Remember when I said the drop-downs were appearing under the wrong links (see #5)? Well, it turns out in IE 7 when I try to click on a drop down link, by moving my mouse away from the top level link, the drop down disappears before I can click anything, thus rendering it unusable.
Hey all, I proposed many different ways to make the text more readable, including the suggestions you kind folks brought up – this is what the guys liked. I think it’s cool too!
Thanks for the heads up on the drop-down Nathaniel.
